DPF Removal / Delete

The DPF looks similar to an exhaust, but is mounted close to the engine. Inside is a honeycomb ceramic structure designed to filter the exhaust gases while not interrupting gas flow (which would hinder performance). The exhaust gases flow through the honeycomb collecting tiny particules of soot on there way, so reducing the amount of air pollution. Once the DPF reaches a certain level of ‘Saturation’ it goes into a regeneration cycle to burn off the soot collected. All well and good so far.

Now the problem is, without getting to technical the regeneration needs certain conditions. Motorway use on a regular basis is great as the DPF will get hot enough through a regeneration process to perform the necessary procedure. But stop /starts and short journeys cause the DPF not to regenerate and the DPF becomes saturated to a point of no return. This is when you start looking at prices to replace the said DPF and Hey Ho 600,800 or 1000 euros and labour ,and you start wishing you had gone on the motorway.
